Get a free $25 gift card

On April 12th, I posted that you could transfer a prescription and get a $25 gift card to Walgreens. If you missed your chance (or in our case Walgreens didn't take our insurance!), Kroger is offering the same deal.

It's in the weekly Kroger circular this week. If you have trouble reading it, it simply says: "Transfer a prescription, get $25 Free Groceries. Transfers are easy...ask your Pharmacist for details." No coupon required. Just do it.

It's only ink for goodness sake

Last week I had to buy a couple of printer cartridges, shelling out $35.00. Thankfully, I had a gift card but it  still seemed ridiculously expensive. Ink? Pens don't cost that much. I don't get it. But about a week later my husband showed me this as he was flipping through the Costco ad:

Have any of you ever used this? How do you like it?

$2.00 coupons = $4.00

I hope you were (are) able to check out Farm Fresh before the weekly sales change and the $2.00 double coupon offer ends. Don't miss a couple of great deals:

See the coupon under the sale. The Dove Shampoo is $3.50 and the coupon of $2.00 doubles to a value of $4.00!

The Protein Plus bars were $2.00 each and in the paper (I am sorry that I can't remember if it was Red Plum or Smart Source, but there was a coupon for $2.00 off 2 bars.) When that coupon doubles, your two bars are free!

I got free McCormicks Grill Mates Marinade and 2 boxes of Barilla Whole Wheat Pasta for free.

A pretty large bottle of Advil sold for $5.00 and with my $1.00 coupon, it was only $3.00. Hanover SOFT pretzels for $1.50....lots of fun things.

Some of the coupons double and and they give you the overage...like the shampoo, I got $.50 back from that transaction. So, like I shared on Saturday...$5.45 spent for more than $30.00 worth of groceries.

This site, The Coupon Challenge,  helped me match  some of the sales with the coupons. Tuesday is your last chance. Hope farm fresh is still stocked up on these things for you.

Free stuff left and right

This week at Farm Fresh (find your store here),  until Tuesday, they are doubling coupons up to $2.00. So, yes...that means any $2.00 coupon has a $4.00 value, every $1.50 coupon has a $3.00 value and  so on and so on....you get the point. I found their coupon policies here (Thanks to the blog- The Coupon Challenge)!

I will blog later about how I did this morning, but wanted to get this out to you. But, just to motivate you a little bit...I spent $5.35 for $36.12 worth of stuff!

Inexpensive Awesome Gift-Few Crafting Skills Required

We got this awesome gift for our wedding. I can't say enough about it. It's beautiful, meaningful and something we will enjoy forever. Our friends who gave it to us also gave us another awesome gift...a sign with our last name-Established 2011. You've seen them, right?  But, let's just say you are on a tight budget...I think this gift is the way to go. It is our wedding invitation cut in strips and strategically placed in a clear glass ornament. In this picture alone, you can read the place of our ceremony, reception, the date of our wedding and my parents' names.

What was one of your favorite wedding gifts?

Transfer a Prescription and get $25 gift Card

Transfer prescription and get $25.
Here's the link!

And that is all I have to say about that.

$100.00 for gas

So, that is the bad news. Frankly, that is terrible terrible news. That is what we spent for gas one night last week. No worries if you are raising an eyebrow at the 30.878 gallons. I don't drive a tractor trailer That is what we spent for two of our cars. We were able to save $.70 a gallon with our Kroger gas points, so we filled up both cars before we turned off the tank. We ended up paying $3.23 a gallon, saving a little more than $21.00. I guess I should feel good about that, but somehow looking at those numbers is a still a bit depressing. Are you doing anything to combat the gas prices? Tell us about it by commenting below.

Making the Cows Happy

Chick-fil-A coupons are pretty easy to come by. So easy, apparently, that my husband found one in his car last Friday.  We snagged the crumpled, dirty 2008 coupon and combined it with two of the coupons in the 2012 Chick-fil-a calendar. Did you know you could combine coupons there? (Well, I can only speak for the Chick-fil-A in our town...check yours to make sure). This particular Chick-fil-A let us use a coupon for a spicy chicken sandwich that was only supposed to be free at a particular Chick-fil-A several towns away and two of our calendar coupons. I don't know of any other restaurant that allows for that. Love it.

Here is our receipt:

We saved $6.59, spending only $6.46 for a meal for 2 of us. Go get your calendar for $6.00 at your local restaurant  and there is a coupon each month. ( At a lot of stores, you don't have to use the coupon that month.) The total value of those absolutely exceed the $6.00 investment. I also saw some being sold on ebay for less, if you are really adventurous. Oh and sit down for this. I  noticed people sell the individual calendar coupons on ebay. Only in America.

I had no idea

Last week, I needed to buy a wedding gift and this particular bride and groom have registered at Bed Bath and Beyond.

First stop was to Kroger to buy the gift card that I would use to pay for the purchase. (Kroger was giving 4x the gas points on any gift card purchase last week.) I don’t frequent Bed Bath and Beyond for lots of reasons, so I didn’t know about this new thing they have going on (apparently it is not in every store yet).

I know they offer free gift wrapping. I want my gift wrapped, for sure. I never want to wait in line for them to do it. Therein lies the rub.

Until now.

You can wrap the presents yourself.  See the boxes?

And the scissors, paper and ribbon?

Why can't I have one of these in my house?

And if you are really in a hurry, at least grab a box with your purchase. Apparently they are free!

Hardly fresh from the farm BUT......

I really like Kroger, as you may have guessed. Martins-you get my business when there is a Ukrops need in my life. But Wednesday, I ventured to Farm Fresh. A small grocery across from Tobacco Row.

I went on Wednesday because I recently found out that Farm Fresh doubles $1.00 coupons on Wednesdays!  I thought maybe the store might have some higher prices. It's a city store, smaller in scale etc, so I brought all of my $1.00 coupons. I walked around the store with those in hand and hoped at least 1/4 of those items might be on sale.

THE HIGHLIGHTS:

First find: Hidden Valley Farmhouse Dressing: $1.91.  Awesome. NET PROFIT  of $.09
Next, Uncle Ben's Rice $1.00 a box. Coupon $1.00 off 3 boxes. So, that makes 3 boxes for $1.00

But, it didn't stop there.

Who knew I would get so excited about yogurt. We eat two a day, that's why. A four pack of yogurt for $2.50, double the $1.00 coupon = $.50. And I had two coupons in my pocket!

Some things weren't on sale, so I'll wait for another Wednesday. Because,  I WILL be back.

And that is why.

Stopped me dead in my tracks

“And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.”
Dr. Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Who doesn't love that?    E.V.E.R.Y.O.N.E.

And there they were, at the end of the aisle, in all of their glory.

The perfect gift(s) for many little ones.

I bought so many I lost count.

The back of the book says $11.99. Target usually sells them for $8.99. Goodness.

ECBS and Peelies

I know. Weird. It’s like a sport. You have to know all this lingo to coupon anymore. It’s pretty ridiculous. It’s like when you are learning a new sport and there is so much new vocabulary.

CVS has a great deal on contact solution. Buy a 12 oz bottle for $8.99 and get $8.99 back in ECBs (Extra Care Bucks is CVS store credit that you get after you buy the product. It prints at the bottom of your receipt and you can use it during your next transition.) Yes. I spend $8.99 and get back $8.99. Beautiful.

I was a little bummed out I didn’t have a coupon to sweeten the deal, but that is the way these things go. So, my husband and I enter the store and march right over to their coupon center. You just scan your CVS card and coupons come out of it. Sometimes they are good and sometimes not. This time, for no reason known to me, I got $1.00 in ECBs!

So, now the contact solution is only going to cost $7.99. Great news. And for all your mathematicians, that means we are going to make $1.00 off this purchase.  We head to the back of the store to find the contact solution.

And right there is a peelie. See it on the box? $1.00 off this product and you can SAVE NOW.  So, now this is going to cost $6.99 after the cashier peels this coupon off and I combine it with the CVS machine's coupon.

We paid for our merchandise $6.99 + tax and like clockwork, our $8.99 store credit spits out of the register. We are going to save it for a rainy day.

If you wear soft contacts, go this week. And if for some reason your store is out...get a rain check. More vocabulary, I know. I wrote about this in another post. Ask your cashier..they know what a rain check is. It just means you can score the deal next time you come to CVS.  Rain checks, peelies and ECBs. Five years ago, I didn't know what any of that meant.
